Cybersecurity is immensely important when we consider the current digital landscape where personal and institutional data are at risk every moment. With the advent of time as technology has matured, so has transformed the devices employed by cybercriminals thus making cybersecurity measures imperative for protecting important information from unauthorized access, theft, fraud and malicious attacks. Cybersecurity is the key to safeguard individual privacy, ensure integrity and reliability of systems buttressing critical infrastructure, business, healthcare, and other crucial applications. In the contemporary world, remote work and interconnected devices are the norm of the day. This in turn makes cybersecurity essential to realize trust and resilience in digital applications. Thus, adopting apposite cybersecurity practices can reduce risks, comply with regulations and offer a safer online environment for all.

As a rapidly growing digital economy, challenges witnessed by India are multifarious. Effective protection strategies can only be formed if the threats and vulnerabilities in this diverse landscape are well understood. Security measures must align with the progress of technology. Cybersecurity research will assist in policymaking, bolster national security, and foster awareness among industry and individuals. The areas where needs for research are blazing include Cloud, IoT and Supply Chain Security. Topics related to long-term research involve Quantum Computing security, AI and Machine Learning in Cybersecurity, associated Policies and Regulations and Human Factors in Cybersecurity

Massive surveillance activities are required in the border area, coastal area and also some internal soft target areas by using different sensors like visual RGB and thermal. Detection and monitoring of anti national activities of those areas using advance image processing and pattern recognition techniques of such sensors data are much required for homeland security.

The research scenario in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in India is dynamic and rapidly evolving. India is surfacing in the global AI and ML ecosystem as a dominant player. The Indian Government has launched programs like National AI Strategy and initiatives under the Digital India program, focusing on utilizing AI for societal causes in the domain of healthcare, agriculture and education. Indian universities and research institutions are increasingly contributing to AI and ML research. The private sector is heavily investing in AI and ML, with tech giants and startups working on innovative solutions. Some prominent research areas in this context include natural language processing, computer vision, healthcare analytics, and smart city technologies. Machine learning and deep learning are the important platforms for remote sensing data analysis specially, pattern recognition and classification, which is one major research activity.
